Serials & Periodicals A serial is a publication in any medium issued in successive parts bearing some sequencing designations and intended to be continued indefinitely. Serials include periodicals; newspapers; annuals (reports, yearbooks, successive editions and revisions); the journals, memoirs, proceedings, transactions, etc, of societies; and numbered monographic series. For the purpose of Stonewall National Museum & Archives, the term serials also includes so-called “quasi=serials”’ that may include sets issued in parts such as encyclopedias. Also included are those serials issued on an irregular basis.

In Stonewall’s John C. Graves Reading Room, we provide current editions of over 60 national and regional serials. Some of our most popular periodicals are The Advocate, She, Go!, Out, and The Guide. We also offer over 20 regional LGBT newspapers including The Washington Blade, The Bay Area Reporter, Southern Voice, Q Notes and Bay Windows.
